Passport Services

A U.S. passport is the key to international travel. NC State is now an official passport acceptance facility open to students, employees and the public.

For Americans traveling outside the United States, the U.S. passport is the only singular document that serves as both identification and proof of U.S. citizenship and is recognized around the world. NC State’s new Passport Services office is pleased to serve campus and the surrounding regions by providing a vital service to the community.

Prepare for Your Visit

Having an application properly prepared and carefully submitted can greatly reduce the odds of it being returned or delayed. Forms are available in the Passport Services office, but you are strongly encouraged to download and complete your application form prior to coming to the office. Review the travel.state.gov website thoroughly before visiting Passport Services at NC State.

First-Time Applicant Requirements (Form DS-11)

First-time applicants are required to apply for a U.S. passport in person. Carefully review the instructions outlined through the U.S. Department of State before visiting the NC State Passport Services office. Forms must be printed one-sided, in black ink and signed in front of the passport agent (do not sign the DS-11 until you meet with an agent).

Adult Renewals (DS-82)

Applicants can submit renewal applications on their own by mail. However Passport Services at NC State will gladly review renewal applications and take renewal photos if needed. (Please note: Minor Passports are not renewable).

Minor Applicants (Under Age 16)

Children under age 16 cannot apply for a passport by themselves. The child must be present AND both parents or guardians should appear with the child. Please review the special requirements for minor applicants.

Passport Application Fees

Passport application fees should be made payable to the US Department of State in either the form of a check or money order.  A $25 cash only execution fee will be charged at the time of your appointment. Please come prepared with exact cash for execution and photo fees. Fees are non-refundable. Calculate your fees.

PASSPORT BOOK FEES:

  • Age 16 and Over | $110 check or money order + $25 cash only execution fee
  • Minor (Under 16) | $80 check or money order + $25 cash only execution fee

If international departure in less than two (2) weeks, or passport is needed for foreign visas, application at a Regional Passport Agency may be advised. An appointment is required. Contact the National Passport Information Center (NPIC) toll free at 1-877-487-2778 (TDD: 1-888-874-7793) or by email at NPIC@state.gov.
