New Campus Resource for International Grants

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new International Grants Director, Dr. Chantell LaPan within International Affairs. Her responsibilities include working with university colleges and research offices to identify and pursue global funding sources, as well as coordinating the grants application process with cross-campus, multidisciplinary teams of faculty and staff. She will provide support for a variety of globally-related research and grant proposals.

Dr. LaPan has been with NC State for seven years and has worked across the university in a variety of capacities. She has previously worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, as a Research Associate for the NC Tourism Extension, as a Survey Research Assistant in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, and as Program Coordinator for in the Office of International Affairs. Her research focuses on leveraging tourism entrepreneurship to reduce poverty in rural and economically depressed areas. She brings significant international experience, including work in Latin America and Africa.

 

Chantell received a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a master’s degree in International Studies and a doctoral degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from North Carolina State University.
