It’s a Wolfpack World
You might hear “Wolfpack” spoken in different languages all over campus this week. Over 1,700 new international students and program participants from around the world will call NC State home for a semester or several years as they pursue their educational goals.
The Office of International Services held orientation last week for approximately 1,060 new graduate students and 200 new international undergraduates who will begin degree programs on campus this semester. The new students contribute to the total degree-seeking international student population of just over 4,000 this year. NC State enrolls more international students than any other institution in North Carolina and is ranked 38th nationally. Students hail from more than 117 different countries around the world.
The Study Abroad Office welcomed an additional 72 new exchange students from 21 different countries. These students will take classes at NC State for a semester or a year, earning them course credit and new perspectives to take back to their home universities. While we welcome the new incoming exchange students to campus for the first time, the Study Abroad Office also welcomes the 699 NC State students who participated in summer programs back to campus.
In addition to degree-seeking students, units of International Affairs further contribute to NC State’s cultural diversity by facilitating programs that integrate hundreds more students into campus life. The Intensive English Program will kick-off the fall semester with 115 new and returning students who come to NC State to hone their academic English skills. Many matriculate to NC State degree programs upon successful completion of the program.
The Global Training Initiative welcomes 268 new and returning SKEMA Business School students from France this semester. While the students pursue business degrees from SKEMA, GTI helps orient, connect, and integrate the SKEMA students into NC State and the surrounding community. SKEMA students also participate in various cultural, community service, and academic activities as part of the Cultural Exchange Network.
