Kumu Hina: The True Meaning Of Aloha Film Screening and Discussion

April 18, 2017 | 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join the GLBT Center as we celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander History Month by screening the film Kumu Hina: The True Meaning of Aloha. This film examines the significance of transgender people in Hawaiian culture. Following one woman’s journey to preserve the legacy and richness of Hawaiian hula dance, this film unpacks the ways culture, heritage, and identity intersect in a post-colonial world.

This event will take place in Talley Student Union, Room 4101.
